What compensation do literary agents get?

Most agents get 15% of the domestic sales and 20% of the foreign sales
of your book. The foreign percentage is higher because the agent is
splitting the commission with the foreign agent who actually made the
sale. These percentages are for all the income that you receive from the
book, whether the advance, royalties, or subrights sales (such as a
movie deal).
