The Velveteen Rabbit Bookshop opened its doors in downtown Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin during the holiday season in 1994. As an independent bookstore with an emphasis in children's literature, the store is named after the beloved children's story--one of our favorites. We've been honored to serve our loyal customers in Fort Atkinson and its surrounding communities for 18 years!

In store, you can browse our floor-to-ceiling bookcases or sit in the windowseat and read! Our shelves feature titles ranging genres and ages, including many local authors and our own recommendations. The selection of unique cards, journals , puzzles, CDs and other specialty items available show variety, but above all, quality. If we don't have what you're looking for on hand, we're more than happy to special order for you, even including many CDs and DVDS.
